Info on the truck would be *really* helpful, maybe indicate in your signature just which vehicle you're refering to and what you *currently* drive. I know the 4x4 shift solenoid is behind the glovebox on the right hand side. It's a small blk box looking thingie that clicks then you press the dash buttons (or it *should* click anyways, that's the solenoid actuating)

EDIT; also ck my reply to your other Q in this forum...

it is in the valve body's solenoid "pack"w other solenoids .. drain fluid, pull da pan;

Parts Diagram w/valve body location by transmichigan.com

Look @ valve body; here is a diagram of the solenoid pack

see page 4

Solenoid Pack Removal by stangmata

The entire solenoid body would have to be replaced ($170.00 or so). or get one from a re-builder

http://stellargroupinc.com/images/Parts/OE...L%20(Large).JPG

First check for;

a break in the wire harness for that solenoid

bad/corroded connection there or at @ transmission connector

Test it (by Steve83)

"Shift Solenoid 1, Shift Solenoid 2, Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid, Coast Clutch Solenoid

> Set ohmmeter to 100-200 ohm range.

> Connect positive lead of ohmmeter to the appropriate vehicle power (VPWR) jack for the solenoid being tested.

> Connect negative lead of the ohmmeter to the appropriate solenoid (shift solenoid 1 [sS1], shift solenoid 2 [sS2], torque converter solenoid [TCC], coast clutch solenoid [CCC]) jack and record resistance.

Refer to following charts for values.

If out of specification, refer to
