Stock cat VS High flow cat or HP cat? Any body know if these are for real or is it a scam?? or is a cat A cat no matter what you call it it still going to choke the **** out of it?

#2 This will cause some controversy-- Magnaflow vs flow masters vs straight glass pack? who has the best performance which one is the loudest & which one is the quietest one with performance?

" I want performance with a bit of noise outside but quiet inside so people can talk & hear my tunes"....

As far as mufflers go I have had magnaflows and flowmasters and both sounded great. The flowmaster gave more of a Rap, RaP, Rap sound vs the magnaflow wich was smooth and had a wo,wo,wo sound. That probably doesn't make much sense, My advice would be to go to the manufacturers websites, they have sound clips for the mufflers that you can play. My favorite so far is Magnaflow. As for cats A high flow does offer better performance and can in some cases be better than a exhaust with no cats and large pipe(not enough backpressure). I would replace the stock cats with high flow pieces, Again magnaflow makes a good product.

I have had 40 series and currently have 50 series Flow Master, the 40 was way too loud inside the truck and the 50 isn't much better but tolerable for me, not my wife  . They have a tiney sound and according the the Factory rep I talked to that is par for the course with them due to the design. Performance wise the are designed to scavenge exhaust very efficiently. I resolved the tiney business by adding a resonator tip on the end of the tail pipe. The next time I get around to changing the exhaust I will go for something a little quieter inside with a nice throaty sound outside, most likely not a Flow Master.

Good luck,

:)>-

Hi-flow cats will NOT choke the engine. I've run them on a couple of Mustangs & a turbo-Regal. They work just fine. I've heard the the new (oh, say, late 90's & up) cats are *much* less restrictive. Todays replacement cat is not like the originals that came out back in the 70's & early 80's. While I can't comment on the Magnaflow vs. Flow Master debate I can tell you for sure that if you want to hear anything within a half-mile or so of your truck you *don't* want glasspacks. They're about as loud as an uncorked Harley. Run them & you will NOT hear anyone inside your truck or your radio, you won't hear the rims slapping the rotor if you wheel gets loose & you won't hear the siren on the cruiser behind you.
