I'm looking for a trailer to haul my 78 Bronco on. The problem is the truck is about 84 inches wide at the wheels (35/12.50's) so getting it on a 6'10" wide trailer may be a little tight....not quite sure if I can squeeze that in there but common sense tells me no. Other than getting a bed over trailer or changing out the tires to get the Bronco on and off the trailer anyone have any suggestions on an appropriate trailer?

Open sides with sturdy wheel wells over the trailer tires so the bronc's front tires can go over the wheel wells, and I am thinking of a trialer that looks like the inside of a pickup bed with the wheel wells on the inside, so the over all width could be just wide enough for the bronc.

I use a 18' x 83" TopHat car hauler, dual axles, rated at 7000 lbs. to haul the 78 Bronco. The 38" tires just fit inside the fenders, as does the 35's on my 79 F-150. Cost is about $2500 new with tax, license, etc. JSM84

JSM84 probably has the best advise. I've done this myself. When I moved from Boston to Memphis I towed my 78' w/38.5's and it was really something I wouldn't do again. I *bought* one of those used dual axle U-haul trailers that was about 90" wide. About 1/3 of each tire hung out over the edge on each side when it was centered. It was late in the day when I figured this out & I just wasn't in the mood to waste another day and a couple hundred MORE dollars on a set of 15" Pizza-cutters JUST to tow it down, so I hooked the trailer up to the 28' Hertz truck to stabalize it & ran the damn Bronco up & over the trailer fenders at about 15mph. Not something I'm in a hurry to do twice in my life. It was a pretty violent thing to do to the trailer (and the poor damn hitch) but nothing fell off. On the plus side the trailer fenders were almost a perfect match for the space between the tires so I wasn't concerned about it rolling *off* again. Problem was with a 6" susp lift the Bronco was pretty bouncy on the trailer and once it was up there it was *up there* for the duration. Halfway down we realized it had bounced around and was canted on the trailer but there was just no easy way to back it off & reposition it. I dragged it back as close to centered as I could w/the come-alongs but eventually just said "F*ck it" and hurried my ass to Memphis where we unloaded it to the great delight of my new neighbors.

Take JSM84's advise, it's a LOT less bull$hit. Really, it is.
