ABS pump leak

I have a '93 Full Size Bronco and the ABS pump and manifold that is located on the frame adjacent to the left front tire leaks. The leak seems to be between the electric motor and pump assembly. I have spoken to several Ford dealers and the ABS assembly (what I call the pump) is no longer available.If it was it would be $1400!!! The brakes work fine other than having to add some fluid now and then. Has anyone had any experience with this part? Can it be rebuilt or have a seal replaced? One of my mechanic buddies suggested taking it out and connecting the lines direct. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. dburns.

DON"T take it out !!!!!!!!!!! There are a couple of companies that rebuid them or may have a rebuilt one in stock. If they don't have one then you'll have to pull yours send it to them and that is about a 10 day turn around typically. It's not chep either expect $500 and up. Make sure you have the connector to the motor disconnected as if fluid is leaking you could have a short in the motor possibly and then a fire and then you up the creek.
