Won't Start

Last week around thursday i noticed i was leaking transmission fluidi fiound the leak tightened the clamp on the hose and sealed the end with double bubble(epoxy). I drove it home fine i haven't started it since firday night and the weather over the past few days the temp has been between -35 and -44. i went to start it Monday and it didn't want to turn over i removed the battery and brought it in my house to warm up if it was frozen i charged it also. i stuck back in my truck today and tried to start it again its -11 and it still won't turn over. i used my other truck to jump and and the same result i called the ford service department and they were useless.If anyone has any idea what the problem is i could really use the help tomorrow the temp will be 3-7 degrees above zero so i'm just hoping the extreme cold for the last few days caused it to bug out

well i doubt the tranny is related to teh starting problem. what kind of bronc year, and engine size? carb, EFI? this will help us troubleshoot the problem

Starter could be toast. Sometimes they still turn but they take alot of juice when they are on their way out. Did you go through deep water recently, before the insane cold? might have water or excessive moisture in the starter that froze on you.

its a 1990 full size 5.0 efi the starter and the battery are both a little over a year old since i've bought both it has never been this cold. the truck is in park and hasn't moved for almost a week all of the water to play around in is frozen its the ice is about 5 ft thick i only drive it to work and back

Well its a machine and machines break. The starter is built by humans and humans do make mistakes, thats why they have a warranty. Yank the starter and get it tested.

Before you start tearing things apart check to see if you have 12V to the little wire on the starter relay when the key is in the crank position . Take a piece of wire and touch it to the positive post on the battery then touch it to the little post on the starter relay if it starts to roll over then the starter and solenoid is good . If it doesnt then try this there will be a little spark but it will be fine take a big pair of channel locks open them up so you can reach across the starter relay big post get them positioned and squeeze quick there will be a little spark nothing serious and if there is a good ground and positive connection , the starter is good it will roll over . With this test your just completeing the connection between the 2 big post . If it rolls over this way and you have 12 volts at the little wire when the key is in crank position then the solenoid is bad or has lost its ground connection to the fender . I would do all this before tearing anything apart should take you about 5 min out there in the cold /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

i used a wrench on the posts and it tried to turn over again but wouldn't start its zero today and its is attempting to start alot harder than it has before

I found the problem when i went to remove my starter i saw that my engine block heater was disonnected. i reconnected it and waited a while and it started right away

Damn, I'm glad we don't need a block heater down here. If its under 25 degrees I can't stand to work outside.
