I haven't had a functional smog pump since '98. Never threw a check engine light. But you do get the associated codes when testing. I just pulled the pulley and used a shorter belt. Unfortunately I got UDrive pulleys and have a really short belt so I can't give you my belt size. It would be to short. Be aware if you lose the pulley and just use a shorter belt you may put a bit more stress on your alternator bearings but I haven't had any bearing related problems and I've been pulley less since '98. I just upgraded to a 3G alternator with the heavy duty bearings so I'm pretty sure I'm really safe now. Just keep in mind you need to comply with emissions laws if required so the pump may need to be on there to pass a visual check.
I know there is a bracket for 'stangs so there may be one for Broncos.
I've got an '88 so I can't say if losing the pump on a later model will ***** up yor engine management in a bad way or not. I know it is good to go on an '88.

I have an 83 without the pump and again belt size i don't have but I know you shouldn't have any lights come on.

with the 88 5.8 efi if anyone knows what belt it is please say somethingam going to do it since I inspect my own truck not gonna mater even for inspection did you leave all the pipes and valves for it or just loose the pully?
Took the pulley off in 97 or there abouts. Just recently the cat mysteriously got left off by the muffler shop and I took out the plumbing a few days ago. Mine's a 5.0 w/ underdrive pulleys and a 3G alt. with a really small pulley so can't even hazerd a guess on belt size. A 550K6 (what I'm currently running) will be to short with stock pulleys. I think the pulley arraingment is pretty similar between the 5.0 and 5.8 so I'd split the diff between that and your stock belt size and be able to make a few trips back and forth to the parts store. Took me three trips last weekend to get the right size after just doin' the alt upgrade. My belt squeals for a few seconds on start up but that is due to the small pulley on the alternator -- belt dressing is my friend. Never squealed before going to the new alternator. Just make sure your belt tensioner is doing it's job right.

fordracing has a smog pump elimator pully so u can still use your factory belt part number is #397-M-8604-A50 u can order it from jegs

and at 74.99 aint bad either wonder if there is an under size pulley for it and the A/C bypass Pulley
