I just bought an 89 EB Bronco to use as a truck to respond on emergency calls. It runs, but after it warms up the oil pressure drops off. I now have found foam in the oil. What causes this and how do I fix it.

With a blown head gasket you shou8ld notice white smoke at the exhaust and a sweet smell from the burning antifreeze . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

No smell, No smoke. My friends have been telling me to junk it and buy something else, but somehow I have already got attached. If it is a blown head gasket, how hard is it to fix for an amature and how much will it cost me?

Check the coolant condition...could be "oil" in it as well. Could be a breach between an oil passage & a water passage in head gasket.

It's a time & step-by-step proceedure. It's a 1 1/2 banana job....time eaten up by lots of cleaning. (sometimes you can do just the 1 head if you know where the prob. is) (& if the eng. is otherwise in good shape)

Get the head to come off as careful as you can so's not to destroy the gasket....it's best if you can insp. it & both surfaces (head & block) to be sure where the failure happened.

It's a PITA job 'til you find the prob. .....then it's kinda fun fr. there on...

HTH,

Bob
