Does it chime with the key in door open? Mine only rings for the first couple seconds, but its the same dinger as the key in door open, and lights on door open.

if it doesnt chime with the key in and door open, there is a little contact on the lock cylinder. If you turn the key to "ON", push the little button directly on the bottom, "a straight pic or sometimes a skinny pen will do this, with the covers still on", and pull the lock cylinder out, there is a contact in there. They either go bad or fall out all the time. It looks like a small spring tab that sits in the column, right where the lock cyl slides in. Just out of curiosity, do you really miss the five seconds on start up it rings? or just want to know when the key is in?

Yeah, if you pull the lock cylinder out, right at the 6 or 7 o'clock position there should be a lil spring tab that rests on the lock cylinder when its installed. that runs the dinger when the key is in. But since you mentioned it, I have never noticed a seat belt light on the dash when I start it. It will ding five times, and I never hear it again. Maybe mine doesn't work either? I never wear those anyway...LOL. When I had my 02 pickup, i reprogrammed the BCM to shut that thing off. LOL

(So how many people do you think just ran outside to check to see if they had one?)

Since you mentioned it, that a simple yet probably WAY overlooked detail, especially if you are restoring it. good to point it out

Im not sure how it is setup in a 93 but is it possible its related to vehicle speed? Say over 15mph the light comes on? I am in no way condoning driving without a seat belt but i'm just throwing that out there. I cant remember a time in any of my fords that i have seen the seat belt light(except during an electrical malfunction) but I never move without it on so I have no basis.

good luck with it.

17 — To Warning Buzzer Chime View is from engine side

And as Joe advised already;

Chime. "the buzzer is directly to the right of the steering colum under the dashboard. it is a white box about 3X1X1/2 inches; if you have a higer trim package (XLT or higher, however my XL E150 has it) there is a "reminder package" it sounds the chime when the lights are left on, the vehicle is off and the door is opened. If you are having trouble with it not working or working intermittently then it's probably the tumbler. (the piece the key goes into)."

i took the cover off where the drivers side seat belt is wound up under the rear speaker and it was corroded more than anything ive seen on this truck so far i took it apart and re wired it...but still if i drive even at 25 mph the seat belt light still doesnt come on...am i wrong thinking that...or do these trucks actually start chimeing with the seatbelt off? the light nor the chime come on if iam driving without a seat belt..reason i want this to work is my nephew is learning to drive on this truck and he absolutely hates that chime so what better way to break in wearing a seat belt? plus i really want to restore all the chime's and lights to origional

I looked at mine, and it only comes on few a few seconds when I start the truck. Never comes on when I'm driving, and I don't wear the belt.
