Finally got my friend's 88' ignition sorted out (the guy who "worked" on it before me reversed the leads on the resistor between the coil & dizzy smoking the resistor & causing the no spark problem) but in doing some research I ran across this little tidbit that I hadn't known about.

Seems the dizzy mounted TFI's just quit altogether & **** the spark when the temp reaches 257* (125*C) but as soon as it cools down the engine fires up just fine without leaving *any* trace of what the problem was.

Nothing to be done about it as far as Ford is concerned but worth knowing about.

If my camera hadn't crapped out would post pics of a solution

on my 91 CV, I remote mounted the TFI to the fender

used the mount for a PCMI I got from a local yard modified it

to fit the TFI next was making a wiring harnes

I used a junk TFI split it apart gutted it and soldered wires ran

them out and over to the remote mount

extended the facotry harnes and routed to the remote mount

so far 19k miles
