hey out there, here is my million dollar question of the day. i have a 78 bronco and i plow snow and of course with the way the weather has been here you never know when your gonna need your wipers. i went to the store the other day and they were working fine, it was pouring rain then they just stop. but you could here the motor going and the wipers move freely by hand. i don't know if the nut came off for the wipers on the motor or what but how do you get to the inside of the grill just at the bottom of the windshield to fix them or is there another way? snowguy somebody please tell me how to fix this problem.

Not positive for the 78/79, but on my 83 you need to remove the wiper arms and then remove the grill that has a few screws holding it down and are accessible through holes or slots in the grill and a couple along the front edge that are visible when you lift the hood. After that you should be able to get to the connection to the motor shaft.

Good luck,

:)>-

Please keep posts about the same problem in the original thread.

Nobody said it would be easy. Sometimes you just gotta take a bunch of stuff off.

It sounds like the plastic shaft on the wiper motor has stripped-since it was cold weather and ,when you turned on the wipers--the blades probably had snow on them-wich would have caused the shaft to strip. It happened to me one time on another vehicle. I have 2 78 bronco,s and really like them.Goes anywhere. and rides like a car

.Good luck and Happy New Year
