What is this part?

My daughter is getting ready to get her license. She bought a 79 XLT Bronco in boxes for "Daddy to put together". And I do mean in boxes. The main body, frame, and axles and springs were the only thing assembled.  So I have it 98% of it assembled. It starts and moves in and out of my shop now. But I have one piece that I can't identify. I know when someone tells me I am going to say "I knew that" but for now I am having a brain fart. It has undercoating on it so that kinda narrows it down to under the body. Sure would appreciate some input on this one.

Hey bushman, Welcome.

That part looks like it could be a bracket that holds the transfer case shield to the frame. Should be 2.

Well I do have the big rt side transfercase shield with the 2 tabs that mount it to the transfercase to adapter bolts. At least I think thats where it mounts. I will put it back up on the rack and look for some obvious signs of something being mounted to the frame in that area.

Well I have it on the hoist and I am still not seeing where this goes. Anyone have any ideas?

What is the size of it, it looks like the bracket that holds the carbon canister to me.

Carbon canister is already installed. Here is my attempt to supply some dimensions. As you can tell I am not a cad guy!!

Next question, where was it installed on your bronco?

It wasn't. It was in one of the many boxes of parts. As I said before this one was mostly disassembled when it came home. It does have some undercoating on it so once again I am assuming it goes underneath somewhere.

I'd crawl under The Beast and look for ya....but it's 500 miles away from me, in Georgia.  I'm flying there tomorrow night.  I'll take a look Wed. am if you haven't found the answer by then.
