If it is grinding and your clutch is disengaging fully, then you probably have a problem with your syncro mesh. Which transmission do you have, the SROD or the New Process 435? The SROD shifter has "1, 2, 3, D" on the shifter ****.

Good luck,

:)>-

umm im not at home so im not sure...but on the shifter it is just the standars 1234R, the 4 are in the H pattern and then reverse is over and down. if that helps. i didnt think of the mesh. could i need just a new pressure plate..im not sure how old the clutch is...b/c it was given as a gift. thx man :)>-

Sounds like it is not the SROD, probably a NP435. The SROD reverse is left and up. You need to get a shop manual of some sort. Preferable a real Ford one but atleast a Chilton or Haynes. I doubt that it is the pressure plate, how does your clutch linkage feel? solid or sloppy. Do you have a mechanical or hydraulic clutch?

its a mechanical linkage. im gonna go look in to getting a manual today or tommorow. thx man. any ideas what it is. because i replaced the linkage except for the spring a little bit ago so i would assume it would be good. also....it kinda feels funny shifting sometimes. i checked the motor mounts and they are good. could tranny mount be out. like i said i just got this thing and havent had a whole bunch of time to work on it. but ill get there. :)>-

Did you do the Clutch Pedal Free Travel check/adjustment. I'd do that before jumping into any other possible solution. It may not be fully disengaging the clutch. If you need that proceedure, I'll photograph the page in my shop manual.

this sounds dumb.... but if that is the metal piece with the mushroom head on the end of it that goes in to the receiver i guess u could call it. to determine the point of release on the clutch....i dont know man...possibly.. it wouldnt hurt if it isnt a big pain to send it...i would be in a huge state of gratitude. :)>-
