Can anyone give me some feedback on what engine to get to replace my dead 302?I'm thinking about the Ford crate 351,or the 302 ,with the roller E-303 cam.Any body have experience with any of these motors,or any others in the 4,000.00 dollar or less price range?Any help with which belt system used,did you have to change the water pump,timing chain cover,or anything related.Anyone know about those Explorer motors that were being sold for awhiile?thanks;

Might want to talk to "OrangeCrush" .....his 351 has been a "cooling nightmare"...along with a few other minor problems.

Sorry, I'm a "stock" believer....4x4's run in the 500-1500 rpm range.

HP over 200 is really a waste unless one's playing in deep sand/mud...., or pit racing. B)

Stock = R&R & you're done ....no hassles :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

You can have a 302/5.0 EFI built for around $2500. I agree w/Bob about the HP. You don't need a rocket, but if you can build a good engine for less than $4k. I did an EFI swap on my 302 and love it. Don't have to worry about the carb issues anymore and I am pushing right at/around 250-275 HP.

Well,there is no one around these parts I trust to build an engine.I couldn't afford Tand L,or that Badasscars,that everyone recommended.I didn't see this post until just now,I don't know why it doesn't automatically go to my E-mail.I ordered that stock engine from Summit for 2,600.Lets see how that works out.Just steel heads,flat tappet cam,and no roller anything .At least the water pump is configured for old Broncos.thanks for the reply.
