What does this hose connect to?

So when I was under my car looking for a spot to move my fuel pump too, I noticed this hose wasnt connected to anything. So I am hoping someone here knows what it is and where it goes (maybe you could tell me specifically) cause I couldnt find anything that it should connect to. This is in the middle of the car a little before the back tires, it is also the top hose in the pic. Thanks!

I believe Jg is right. Looks like the vent for the diff. 

Put a little fuel filter on the open end & strap it down so it doesn't flop around.

I honestly am not sure but after googling what you said, that does appear to be it and it should have a vent at that end. Cheap and easy fix, thanks a lot jgrden

It looks to be just the breather hose for the transfer case it deteriorated and broke off after so many years
