Weatherstrip Help

The PO replaced the rear hatch weatherstrip (the long one attached to the body & top that runs around the sides & top of the rear opening) with one from BG. Where it goes around the upper corners, the lack of a molded-in corner causes the strip to slightly lay over - leaving not much compression against the liftgate allowing a lot of water to come in.

Any suggestions? Anyone else have this same problem that they've been able to fix? Any other tips on sealing the rear hatch in general?

Good question...!

I don't think they were all that great right out of the factory. Every one I had.., had an air or seepage issue.

It's kind of an "artistic" approach to get a good seal. The material (one piece) is pretty cheap....$25

A clean/dry surface helps.

Seems I let mine set for a day or two ...then put a light coat of grease on the seal & mating surface to allow it to slip into its position instead of eventually rolling over.

The Land Cruisers were just as bad, if not worse..... ^_^ /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
