a body shop guy told me he rememberd seein a "baby" bronco sittin out in a field not far from my house so i checked it out... i found it and i could probably get it cheap because the poeple that have it on thier land think its a heap (solid body, softop, fiberglass frontend, d44 disc, auto.....76-77?) the story is it belonged to the previous owner of the land, he left it there 10 years ago to join the military said hed be back in 2 years and they never heard from him again and they dont have the title and wont sell it becuase they dont have a title but they just wanna get rid of it. it also has a spare motor in the barn. is there a way to do a title search on this or anything? i dunno if the guy was killed or he just forgot about it or what but its a shame such a nice bronco is doomed to a life of sitting under a mesquite tree.

get with a body shop or wrecker service they can get one or a bill of sale from the ppl that have it even if it is for a $1 and have them write how they got it and get it notarized well that would work in OK talk to your local tag office and i think the only VIN on 66-77 is on the glove box door so a title and door from a salvage could be a easy fix

Does it have plates on it? You may be able to find something on it this way. The time period mentioned (2 yrs.) has long since expired, and I would suspect it legally belongs to the land owner now. Blue titles, and salvage titles are available.

If you're not interested...let me know, and I'll go take a look at it.

good luck. JMM

i will definately look more into this when i get time what exactly is a blue title? there arent any 66-77 broncos in any yards here so it might be hard to come by the door. unless they have been swapped only the 76-77 had disc and the 77s had a square fuel door right? is the build date on the door frame like the trucks are? the lady didnt even really want me to look at it cause she said "theres no point i cant sell it people stop by all the time asking about it" but she also said it makes her yard look like a junkyard and theres a motor and stuff takin up space in her barn. what would be a reasonable offer to a lady like this if i can somehow get everything legal worked out with it? $300-$500-$1000?? thanks for the help

I'd talk to your local tags & taxes department. I had some things goofed up on my Bronco titles (not that bad though) and they explained exactly what signatures, inspections, etc. I needed.

In Colorado, that vehicle is or can be listed as abandoned after 6 months. By all means, if they actually wanted the vehicle off their property, they could call a tow truck and have them haul it off. After a month, if the owner doesn't pick up the vehicle then it legally belongs to the wrecking company. That is the way that it works in Colorado. I know this because my dad got an 86 F250 that way. This truck was sitting in the parking lot between a 7-Up bottler and a dog track for about 10 years. Each thought the truck belonged to the other and never said anything about it. I finally went out to see if the dog track would sell and they said it belonged to 7-Up. Went to 7-Up they said it was the track's. Got the VIN from the dash, went to the police, they did a title search, said the truck doesn't exist, it is yours, haul it off. I got a flatbed, loaded the truck up, got a salvage title for it, put a new brain box in and sold it to my dad for $500 bucks. Nice truck too, should have got 2k for it.....less than 50k on the engine, 3/4 ton, 460, 4:11, posi rear end, 4x4, 4 speed......DOHHHH!!

But if you got all your i's dotted and t's crossed before you went to the land owner, showed them that they can legally get rid of it, they might sell it to you for a couple of hundred bucks. Go through the proper channels and give them your name, phone numbers, etc. and then if the guy comes looking for the Bronco and says he wants it back, he wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Thats what I would do.
