I'm buying a 1990 Ford Bronco 302 small block with a 3"lift from my mom's boyfriend. Thing is, I dont know what kind of transmission, axles, or drivetrain is in it. Can someone give me some advice on how to find out what kind each one is?

Appreciate the help, Binks

(first name is zachary, my cousin gave me the name zachary binks from the show hocus pocus, and now its drifted on down to Jar Jar Binks :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Dana 44 up front with 3.54 gears. 8.8 Rear with 3.55 gears. And the tranny, assuming you have an auto should be an AOD. Automatic overdrive. I had a '90 Bronco up until a month ago, and thats what it had. You should have the same.

JJBinks, look on the driver's side door jamb or B-pillar post behind the door handle for the "safety compliance" sticker. Among other codes, it lists numbers/letters for your transmission and axle. Post those up, and we'll decode them for you. You can also look on either axle's center-section or pumpkin for a metal ID tag with two rows of numbers.

You likely have the D44 TTB front axle and Ford 8.8" rear as YA posted, but not all 90 Broncos have the 3.55 gears (although that is most common, it could have 3.08's). It's also possible to have the E4OD or AOD auto tranny, or even the C-6 without overdrive (OD). IF it's a manual tranny, theres at least 2, maybe 3, options.
