How positive are you that its a 351c? If you are mistaken you might end up wasting money on the wrong transmission.

Pretty pos. I bought it from the original owner and it came with 351c ** and a c6 the owner said it was still all original i have no reason to suspect otherwise. is there a way to tell for sure this is the first Ford i have ever owen so im still learning them.

The reason I ask is they only made the 351c from 69 to 74 so it kinda sounds to me like its a 351w. If you post a pic of it I can tell you what it is. If it says 5.8 h.o. Then you have a sweet engine. Its one of my favourites I would bet it is a 351w h.o. If that's the case you have plenty of overdrive tranny possibilities

I agree with Blade, if it's an 86 Bronco original engine, then it will be the 351WINDSOR H.O. IF you're looking to swap to an overdrive auto, I don't know of one that would work with the 351C anyway. But back to the 351W H.O., you can either go with the AOD or an E4OD. IF I had a choice between the two, I would prolly go with the AOD for a couple reasons. One, the E40D is computer controlled. Two, the E40D is hella expensive to rebuild. The main drawback of the AOD is it's weakness, compared to the C6. You'll also have a really hard time finding the shifter linkage for the AOD and B-W 13-56 t-case, since that was the only t-case offered behind the AOD, AFAIK. This is my personal opinion, but I think you give up too much reliabilty and strength by swapping from the C6 to the AOD for the minimal gain from the overdrive. A better swap that you might look into would be to a manual ZF 5-sp OD tranny. JSM84

no prob spider. if you do decide to go with the zf swap i would highly reccomend trying to find a full donor truck. all the parts are right there for you including the floor plan. the zf's are found in f250's (usually in the 92-96 range but i have heard of finding some in older f250's) make sure that it's coming from a 4x4 truck and it has to have the 5.8L engine in it. and when pricing out clutches definately go for the 11" one. i would also suggest replacing the master cylinder and ***** cylinder.
