When I try and take off from a light or 4 way stop ect..

It seems like im not starting off in 1st? I will downshift only when I let off the gas and slam the gas hard and

It goes into 1st and Im able to go quicker. Is their an adjustment?

By the way..

Its a C6 and Its got about 1,500 miles on the rebuild.

Any help would be helpful!

This may sound silly but its not overfull is it? Even just a little can cause problems. Also check the vacum line from the back of the intake to the shift module ( little round thing that screws into the back of the trans just above the pan) You can adjust the shift module but I dont recall propper adjustment. High school was a long time ago and thats the last time I did one. I know you have to remove the vacum line and adjust with a real thin standard screwdriver. But like I said I'm not sure which way to go or how far you can go. But first check the fluid and maybe even pull the tranny pan and make sure you're filter is not plugged up, If the fluid is restricted through the valve body it wont shift right. Hope this helps a little, Glad to hear you're driving her again.

Also check you're kickdown linkage should run from the drivers side of you're carb down to the trans and connect to a little lever just infront of the shift likage. You cant miss it once you look, make sure it is not binding up on anything and moves freely.

O.K. so no !st or "passing gear" To me the very first thing is the cable is kinked or hanging up I'm not real familiar with the fuelies but there should be a spring on one end of the cable make sure it is not damaged and make sure the cable slides freely inside of its housing. With the truck NOT running, have someone push the gas pedal to the floor while you watch the linkage under the hood. Make sure it goes to wide open throttle and moves the cable to the tranny, If not something is stuck. Im not sure if the fuelies have an adjuster or not.

Fluid is ok, and the kickdown is working, When you put the trans in first it works ok, And reverse works right? ( in a c-6 1st and reverse are on the same planetary) So when you pull up to a stop sign can you feel it shift down from 3-2-1 or no? The brian of a c-6 is the valve body,( actually looks like a slice of brain) Drain you're trans and pull the tranny pan there is a flat piece shaped kind of like texas with a round hole and a piece of screen, this is you're filter replace it ( filter and gasket around 10 at most parts places) While in there check the bottom of the pan for a copper color This means $$$$. Other than that I'd say check into you're local tranny shops and see if they can diagnose for you. If the valve body is sticking it would have to be rebuilt, perfect OP for a shift kit while you're at it. Good luck. Let me know what you find.
