Hey guys,

I am new to your forum (I just found it on the internet today) I read through a few posts and I think its great! I have a wiring question and it seems to be a pretty well discussed topic. Ihave a 79 Bronco and I want to hook up a trailer light connector so I can pull a trailer so I dont have to keep loading my dirtbike in my huge truck. I have a six pole connector for it, and I am trying to figure out how I can wire it in to my tail lights. I have the wiring diagrams for my truck, but the wiring has been redone since original so none of the wire colors match the charts. I am going to try and wire the trailer lights directly into the tail lights, but before just cutting and praying that it will work I decided to ask for some help and advice on the topic. Any advice is appreciated and would help me out greatly! Thanks, and I look forward to helping you out with the problems I do know how to fix. Have a great day!

I just wired mine last week for trailer lights. Same deal, one side had been replaced and some wires in the rear had been changed, I just found the right wires inside each tailight compertment eith a tester and ran a wire from each side back to the trailer plug. I found the running light wire in the middle with the tester and spiced it there, but you could run a wire from behind the tailight too. That may keep the splice a little more protected from the elements. I drilled through the bumper to mount the trailer plug and found that was a good ground, so thats where I grounded mine. My relays must not be strong enough, The trailer lights barely blink. Running lights and brake lights are good but I plan on replacing the blinker relay to see if that helps. Good luck! Get a friend to hold the brakes and work the blinkers when you are testing them. Most of my trailers have the large round plugs so that's what I put on mine, got an adapter for the trailers that have the 4 flat plug.

Thanks for the advice! I am going to be working on it this weekend in my spare time, so I will let you know how that goes. I would like to use the round six pin if I can, but if I cant figure that out I will just wire up the four pin connector for it. I have another truck that I do most of my towing with, so its not really a big deal if I cant get the six pin to work. Thanks again for the help!
