Well sure, over time of course it'll effect the brakes, it'll effect the transmission too. But brakes are pretty cheap (I can do them at home, fronts & rears w/new pads & turned drums & rotors for less than $125. Less than $250 at most brake shops) and you should be replacing the tranny fluid every 30K *anyways* and you should have an aux tranny cooler if you're towing *anything* on a regular basis. Not doing all of the above is , quite frankly, neglectful. Take care of it, use synthetic fluids, auxillary coolers (oil, power steering & transmission) and change the tranny fluid every 30K and it should tow for 200K. It really should. Examine *every* dead 90K truck you find and you'll see burnt tranny fluid, no cooler and it'll probably have warped rotors. Neglect is what kills these trucks dead, a truck that's maintained regularly and that's treated to synthetic fluids will last almost forever. Ask around.
