i have a slight problem. i have a 93 bronco, stock suspension, with 32x11.5in tires. and the right side (passenger side) rubs when i turn left. so every now and agian i have to readjust my bumber because it keeps getting tweeked by the tire. is there a way to move the front bumber forward a bit. or should i just put a lift on it. i dont want to lift it to much maybe a couple of inches.

Best way is to lift it an inch up front. I got 1" leveling coils for my 89 Bronco which is used for snowplow or winch weight. The coils were from Superlift which sucks but they actually rode just fine. The kit comes with new ball joint shims to correct the tire lean. I also changed out to a 70/30 style shock and ditched the stiff Rancho 5000's so I think it equaled out. I had a 3" body lift so I was able to fit 35's without rubbing. If you want to go the cheap route, take off the bumper and add some washers to push it forwards a bit. 1" body lift would do it as well. All depends on what you want out of the rig in the future.

Any lift above 2" will require a drop bracket for the TTB and get to be more work.

That's odd, I have 32x11.50's as well and I don't think I've ever rubed? Maybe it's my new bumper that lets me have the room? b-(

I run 33X12.5 BFGs on and all stock '92 and have no bumper problems. If it's rubbing on your bumper just add some washers as spacers. I did have some rubbing on my radius arms and sway bar at full lock. I just adjusted my steering stops a little and fixed it right up.

just got your pm bidibronco. didnt get a chance to look at the picture because my computer wouldnt allow me to open it. piece of sh*t my computer is. anyway, you said it was pretty much all stock so i trust your judgement. i just hears a rumor about bigger tires requires a lift to keep from tires rubbin.

you might want to check and see if the ball joints are still good.if you have any play in them this may be causing your rub

ok i took the bumper off to space it out. but before i put it back on i drove it around with no front bumper, and it still sounds like its rubbing on something. it makes the noise only when i accelerate, only for a few second at around 10-20 mph. after that the noise stops. when i decellerate to that speed, no noise. begining to think its something else. I NEED HELP BAD!

turning or going staright it makes the noise. i guess its a rubbing sound, when i buddy first heard it he thought it was tire rub and he knows alot more about mechanics than i do. i have manual hubs. but even if im going 10-20 mph steady or accelerating past 10-20 mph it will do the same thing. make that noise then stop. only makes it for a few seconds. i just have no clue.

I'd also look into the u-joints after you pull the hubs and wheel bearing out.

Either way looks like you need to get under there and look around.

Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you look at steering connection points, trac bars etc. Jack up one tire at a time and see if you can wobble a tire. See if its the ball joints or wheel bearings by simply looking for where the movment is comming from.

BALL JOINT
30871[/snapback]

i HIGHLY doubt the problem is his ball joints. if that was the case, he would get a nasty vibration as well. and i can't imagine how a bad ball joint would cause a "rubbing" sound.

tompa, your best bet is to simply pull everything apart and inspect it. if you dont already have it, get a locknut spanner for the front spindle locknuts. that is a necesary piece, and its only like 5 or so bucks at a parts store. even though you think it isnt very detailed, your haynes manual has everything you need to know concerning the job. pulling the hubs, rotors, and spindles is not a difficult task at all. and it can't hurt to give everything the once over while you're in there
