think i blew moter

went to local garage for my oil change and after i left got about half way home and truck started to rattle and buck like a....wel like a bronco then boom from under the hood along with smoke had it towed home tonight and found NO OIL and a double gasket on filter what i am wondering is when this happened my truck was in 4x4 with hubs locked (the rain makes my back yard look like a swamp) is it possible that damage may extend to the trany and t- case (had a blazer years ago that when i locked up the brakes on a panic stop the t case went to ***)

am wondering what to expect and what to worry about when i contact the garage in the Am

soory forgot its a 88 fulsize with the 5.8 and c-6 and borg warner 1356

be warned even if the garage is reputable they also have insurance and if they decide your truck is not worth enough they will total it out before they drop even a bone yard engine into it

This could very easily have caused the prob. The old rubber gasket, stuck to the block, & blew out after pressure worked on it.

They need to make it right .....

BUT, some responsibility lies with you ... do you not have gages..? One must always count on "Murphys Law" especially when someone else touches your veh.

ALWAYS..!... one eye on the gages...! @-)

Obviously though, any dying/sick componet of the drive train may die completely after a hard "****" ...stopping or starting.

tow it back to the shop and ***** slap everyone of those mechs who did your oil change. have them comp any costs to fix the motor, since it was there ***** up that caused it in the first place

*** is right, you may have a hard time getting any money from the shop. You might have been better off having the truck towed back to that shop rather than home and let them find there mistake. Also the motor popping may have done damage to the trany & transfer case.

The ultimate responsibility lies with the owner these days. The monkeys they hire to do the work... 'nuff said.

Did it even have oil in it when it left the shop..!

One must inspect (these days) EACH project assigned to a shop prior to signing the ticket & paying !!!

well some good news they are assuming responsibility and are going to take care of the engine and got them to agree to have work performed elsewhere as I don't trust the competency of their employees.

also yes there was oil in it when I left or would not have made it as far as it did turns out the guy had done similar when he worked at another company the worst part really is they aren't doing anything about him friends of mine, that work where he used to say that is why he was fired
