tank switch

i need some help. i am either reading things wrong or just stupid. i am trying to wire and electric fuel tank switch to the fuel gauge selector so i don't have to install another toggle switch. i was wondering if anyone new of a idiot proof way to do this. any help would be appreciated.

What year EB..?

There should be a toggle already on the lower left dash. This one allows you to monitor/check fuel level in the presently, not being used, tank.

The actual tank switch-over valve is mechanical but can be converted to electric. (I did)

I don't think the dash toggle can be used to electrically switch fr. one tank to another.

This doesn't mean a "custom" switch couldn't be installed to do both at once. Is this what your attempting...? (My '82 chev. had that, factory)

got a '75 and you did what i am trying to do only i was hoping not to have to do anything custom. i would prefer not to have to put another hole in the dash if i don't have to. it may be time for some engineering aka jerry rigging. thanks for the help

with the switch did you just leave the old stuff there and mount next to it or did you take out the old vave and put the switch in its place?
