tailgate motor (NEW)

I am installing a new tailgate, 93 fullsize, I have all components in and wanted to test the motor without the window in. Motor does not run. Whats wrong

This might sound stupid but are you testing it with the tail gate closed or open?

Woops yes I had the gate closed when i used the key and the dashboard switch and still nothing.

i notice a sticker on the motor when i replaced mine that said "do not activate before completely installed or window motor may reverse polarity. I had one that wouldnt work - like you were saying. i put a second one completely in and, as long as i held the tailgate latch closed with one hand, i could operate the window with the other and it worked fine.

Pull the motor out and test it with a jumper box to make sure the motor works.

I hooked it up to a 12vlt power supply before putting it in and nothing happened I assumed it had to be mounted and the glass in for it to work. So what your saying is that if it does not work outside of the gate it will not work inside the gate
