well just to let you know my speakers were fairly new, and also how are you wiring the speakers, in a bridge format or just regularly. because if you are wiring it bridged, MAKE sure the amp is bridgeable because if it isn't it will fry it. The reason is your tring to push too much amperage through the wrong wires basically. IF it is bridgeable make sure your hooking it up correctly, and that should give you a decent more power, depending on kind of amp,watts, and speakers you have.

where is your amp located, if located somewhere like under the seat then it will fry very quick, it needs constant air to cool when running

Just for FYI for everyone what kind of amp and how many watts do you have and what kind of speakers are you pushing? Also, the bolts are pretty tight. Hit them with some lubricant like PB blaster and then get them with a breaker bar or something. Be carefull not to bust them though.

BIG DITTO on watching out not to break the bolts! I'd soak with PB from the top and underneath a couple times a day for a few days leading up to trying to loosen one of them. Not that I've made that mistake or anything before....... :huh:
