Stupid recall, I took my Bronco to the local Ford Dealer to have them do the recall on the speed control break switch after calling and asking if they had the part. "Oh yes sir we sure do!", said the lying bastard at the service center. I get there he says it will take five minutes...15 later he comes in and very unapologetically says "we don't have the part so we disconnected your cruise control." I call Ford and say how disappointed I was and what the heck I like my speed control it keeps me from getting tickets on the interstate (freeway if you are are from California) what is Ford going to do for me. They say nothing the part should be available in July.

If they produced the damn things here instead of Bangladesh we might be able to have something sooner.

I hate being lied to, hate it. I hate going to these mega car dealers who are more interested in cooking hot dogs for new car buyers than honoring their court ordered recall.

Can I buy that pressure switch somewhere else that is the upgraded one?

According to the recall letter, they were supposed to simply disconnect the switch not the cruise control until they got the parts. The switch is redundant and putting your foot on the brake will still shut off the speed control just as it has for years before they decided to add it.

Campaign Number: 07V336000 Date: 2007-Aug-03

Component: Vehicle Speed Control

Defect Summary: ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS, PASSENGER VEHICLES, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, AND MOTOR HOMES CHASSIS, THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH MAY, UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, LEAK INTERNALLY AND THEN OVERHEAT, SMOKE, OR BURN.

Consequence Summary: THIS COULD RESULT IN AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.

Corrective Summary: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A FUSED WIRING HARNESS. OWNERS OF THE PASSENGER CARS INCLUDED IN THIS CAMPAIGN WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO RETURN THEIR VEHICLES TO THEIR DEALERS TO HAVE THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH DISCONNECTED AS AN INTERIM REPAIR. AS SOON AS REPAIR PARTS ARE AVAILABLE (EXPECTED OCTOBER 2007), OWNERS WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO RETURN TO THE DEALERS FOR INSTALLATION OF A FUSED WIRING HARNESS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 13, 2007, AND MAILING COMPLETED BY SEPTEMBER 19, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-888-222-2751.

Good luck,

:)>-

All I can see that they disconnected was that pressure switch at the very end of the master cylinder, but I am guessing it completes a circuit in the entire speed control because my cruise control will not function now.

Thanks a million for your input guys!!

Connect the two wires together and it should work just fine. The switch is in line with a fuse that supplies power to the control. The cruise control still incorporates the vacuum dump switch on the brake pedal which also shuts off the cruise control when you break. The switch has the same function and duplicates the effect of the vacuum dump switch.
