Here's a page from the factory brochure that shows the location both with the factory pushbar and without.

I've never seen the air horn set-up. My 79 has the holes in the roof where it once was. Has anyone seen one for sale anwhere?
Ebay is one way to go otherwise I'd ck with the guys at the Bronco Graveyard. They should be able to either find you an old stocker or something that bolts into the same location.

BroncoBill, that brochure is interesting because I have an early build date 78 with push bar and lights, and the lights are mounted below the horizontal bar. The picture shows them mounted above the bar.

Just another "Bronco Mystery".....?

Hmm, I'm not sure I'm clear on what you're saying. The factory foglights were usually mounted on *top* of the front bumper & under the hoop of the pushbar. The "bar" that the photo shows them mounted above is in fact the front bumper it's just that the one in the photo is painted flat black instead of chrome as Ford was wont to do in those days (they thought it looked "european" and was therefore cool).

Now, having said that. The assembly lines back in the 70's were a FAR cry from the assembly lines of today. It may be an early build date truck but dig deeper to see WHEN in the week it was built. I remember going to buy a brand new Plymouth with my old man back in 75'76' and he flat out refused to take delivery when we showed up because he scrutinized the build sheet & saw it had been built on a Friday. He wouldn't take anything built later than a Wednesday, figuring the guys on the line were too preoccupied with the upcoming weekend on Thurs & Fri and would be doing a sloppy job. Call him Quirky but he got 170K out of that freaking Mopar & this was back in the day when you'd need a set of rings at 60K. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that the guys on the line sometimes had their own opinion of what looked best & just where those lights should go.

Also, just how certain are you that your truck is still in it's original factory configuration ? 30yrs man, that can be a whole lot of owners doing who knows what with it.

LOL Dave, interesting story about your dad not buying a car built on Friday. I've heard that too, that Friday vehicles were poorly assembled. In fact I've probably owned a few..... :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'll try to post a pic of mine with the fogs mounted under the crossbar. It's indeed factory, but I suspect they might have been mounted both ways.

Ok, I think I get what you're saying now. Instead of being mounted in the usual way (right side up) and having the mounting bolts go *down* & into holes in the bumper yours are mounted upside-down with the mounting bolts going *up* & into the crossbar. Have I got it right ?

While I guess that would work ok don't the mounting holes go thru both sides of the pushbar so that the nuts can be spun on ? That sounds to me like something an owner would do rather than something from the factory. With a bumper mount you're only drilling the single hole for each lamp & can access the backside of the bumper to install the nuts & washers. Wouldn't surprise me if someone found your truck with it's factoty pushbar & decided to add the fogs. What kind of switch is used in the cab ? To be honest I've never seen a stock setup so I don't know what the factory switch installation *should* look like but aftermarket switches usually look like aftermarket switches (but that's not to say that whoever did it didn't order a factory kit with the correct switch or grab one from a boneyard). I really don't think the foctory would leave it with exposed nuts on the top of the pushbar like that, even on a Friday.

I seem to recall Dad citing a Comsumer Reports article that purported to have tracked 2 or 3 yrs worth of build info versus warantee claims for each of the Big Three & supposedly ALL of them showed a spike in new vehicle warrantee claims for anything built on a Friday with a slightly smaller spike for those built on a Thursday. Monday & Tuesday builds were the best & predictable Weds was right in the middle. He swore by that article for years.

Better late than never, finally got a pic of mine.

These lights haven't been disturbed since the Bronco was new,

and the build sheet says it came originally with the pushbar/light package.

It also has the stock aux light switch mounted near the hood release.

How odd. I'm wondering if maybe they were dealer installed ? I've never even seen that style pushbar in any of the factory literature but it may well have been a Motorsports accessory. When the truck was purchased new the buyer may have requested it that way. I dunno, just another Ford mystery I guess <grin>
