I've got a really rough ride at around 70 mph, it shakes really bad when i get up to that speed and the degree of it changes with the road surface. I just replaced all 6 shocks and it helped slightly but it is still there. Im going to have the front end realligned but I remember reading here that if i don't check all the suspension componets that realligning the front end won't last. I'm just wondering what I need to check/replace before I get the reallignment, I'm heading on a rather long road trip in a few days so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Check your Tie rods ends, drag link. Ball joints and wheel bearings. If all checks out then its okay to get an alingment. If you do not have the time or place to do the inspection yourself you can take it into the alingment shop. Dont say anything about faulty parts, they do an inspection before the actual alingment looking for worn parts that they hope they can rope you into buying and have them install. They will call you if there is a problem and ask if its okay for them to fix the parts. Come up with an excuse as to why you need to pull it out, have a look at the damaged parts. Get them to show you. Leave, buy the parts and install them yourself. Then go to another alignment shop and get the job finished.

I forgot to add that I also had the tires balanced recently, my bad and i know my hubs are unlocked (manuals). I will be following your advice yardape, but i've just got one more question. While reading my Haynes manual it said that my shaking/viberation could also be caused by the rear wheel bearing, so my question, is there any easy way to check the rear wheel bearing without taking the whole thing apart? (short on time being an exuse for my lazyness)

Jack up the back end, put it on jackstands and let her rip. just put it in gear and let it drive at idle. Lots of room for error here so be careful. Safety is key. Look for a bent axle, odd noises.
