O.K Fist I need to apologize for not being on the site in a while. My bronco started making a squeeling sound right before it shifts about a month ago it doesnt do it all the time and now whenI am going above 55mph it squeels I checked and re adjusted the belts and it still does it. It sounds to me like it is coming from the power steering pump. if this is correct wouldnt it be squeeling all the time? and why only at high RPM's?

Thanks

I can't think of any special reason for a squeal at a given RPM, but have you tried running the engine at that RPM while it is setting in the driveway? I wouldn't just go throwing parts at it, but assuming you have a serpentine belt, a couple of possibilities are the tensioner, idler pulley, alternator, A/C compressor, water pump, etc. Get a piece of hose and it you can make it squeal in the drive way, use it to isolate the source.

Any particular condition when it squeals, like acceleration?

Good luck,

:)>-

I dont have the serpintine belt. it was doing it when I pulled out on the road where it is 40mph and I am getting up to speed it would start to squeel right before it shifted. then it would stop. I did try it in my drive way and I can make it squeel but I am not 100% sure it is the power steering pump. would the bearings in the pump pully or shaft make that sound at certian rpms?

If you don't have a serpentine belt, perhaps you can remove the belt that drives your power steering pump and rev her up in your driveway. IF there is no squeel, at least you will have norrowed down the possibilities.
