If it's sheet-metal & a square port chances are it's an FE intake. I know for sure that none of the 385-series engines (429/460) ever came w/square ports, not even the Cobra Jet & Super Cobra Jet. I can believe a sheet metal intake for an FE because there are so few parts out there for them these days, if you want something high-end you pretty much need to build it yourself. Now I know some of the new 4.6L stuff is square port but you'd think something like that would be distinctive

What's the history of the part ? How did he come to have it ? Is it from a pile of old parts & he just can't remember which engine it was off or did it just come to him & has has no info ? Speaking only for myself I'm pretty sure that if *I* built an engine needing a sheet-metal intake I'd remember it <grin> I'd say it's gotta be something off either a small-block or an FE (and I'd lean strongly towards the FE)
