I HAVE A SPEEDO THAT HAS DECIDED TO DO ITS OWN THING. MY 75 BRONCO 2 DAYS AGO HIT 3000 MILES ON A FLIPPED ODOMETER. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE NEEDLE IMMEDIATLY STARTED JUMPING AROUND NO MATTER HOW FAST I WAS GOING IT WOULD JUMP. AS MY SPEED PROGRESSED THE NEEDLE WOULD SHOW THIS BUT IT IS NOT A SMOOTH ACCURATE CLIMB IT WILL BOUNCE FORWARD AND BACK OVER ROUGHLY A 10MPH RANGE. THE ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING EXACTLY AT THE 3000-MILE READING AS WELL. I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME GET BACK ON TRACK. THANKS.

I'd bet on the speedo gear being worn. Pull it out of the transmission and check it. I have also seen this problem with factory cruise control and a lolly pop speed sensor when it went bad.

Good luck,

:)>-

You may have to remove the speedo head & have it serv. at a speedo. shop.

Could be a bad tooth (or dirt) in that 5th of 6 gears... might want to pull the cable loose fr. the head B/4 things get worse.
