I'm to the point in my buildup where I need to buy a roll cage. I'm trying to decide whether to go with a regular 6 point or the "family style" cage. Is the "family style" required at places like SuperLift Off Road Park with backseat passengers? What about looks? What's everybody's opinion.

Most places including the Superlift ORP in Hot Springs, AR require any SUV to have a fully enclosed cab and/or rollbar protection. In other words, either have a factory hardtop or half-cab top in place or you need a rollcage. A few parks I've been to flat out require you to have a hradtop in place, even with a rollcage. That's often to keep all of your stuff from scattering eveywhere should you roll over, but does add some strength to the body.

I have a 10-point rollcage inside the 84 fullsize Bronco, but prefer the "family-style" cage for the early Broncos, especially if you want any passengers back there. I took out my back seat so only one person can ride with me, and the rear kickers come down right where the back seat would normally be. I strongly suggest tieing the cage to the frame for safety, too.

Family cage will help save you and your rig. Helps keep from continuing over. Plus you don't have to add it later.

Do a search on Crab Cages. I like them the best.

Crab cages are probably the best on the market, but they are expensive. Look at Complete Offroad for a similar, but a little bit cheaper cage. Both will cost you in the neighborhood of $900-1000. You can find other family cages out there for cheaper, but they won't have the complete protection as the Crab will.

Thanks for the replies. This was actually an old post. I went with the ProtoFab Family Cage. It fit perfect. Probably one of the easiest things I installed on the Bronco.
