Im trying to clean up the hoses under the hood and i am wondering if anyone else has had issues with removing emmision components causing the engine to not start i rerouted all the important hoses and removed the pump, hoses and extra vacuum lines the one issue i have is the passenger side fenderwell is any of that stuff tied to the ignition and is there a way to bypass it to still have a running truck? and if your worried its going to be an off road vehicle 90% of the time hunting, heavy snow being the other 10%

A lot of stuff can be removed and still have a good running engine but I recommend not removing all the vacuum controls. Some of them are required for good start and run characteristics in cold weather. In some states removing the emissions controls legally makes it an off road only vehicle. I will post a diagram of what I consider a good system that will give overall satisfactory running results tomorrow. I am out of town and the pictures are on my home computer.

Good luck,

:)>-

OK, here is the diagram as promised. Like I said that is the minimum vacuum controls I would run with. It will give you good cold start and run characteristics as well as control of the fuel tank fumes.

Orange is the heat riser function (used when the engine is cold to help vaporize the fuel mixture)

Red is main vacuum

Yellow is spark advance

Gray is fuel vapor control

Red (top) is Main vacuum control to the Air Cleaner Diverter Valve (the vacuum motor that regulates the mix of hot and cold air when the engine is cold and in cold weather) (needed to help vaporize the fuel when the engine is cold)

Red (right) supplies vacuum for the heat riser

Good luck,

:)>-

Could someone post a similar diagram for a 1991 5.8? Or if I got a picture of the vacuum diagram could you help me out?
