Ok...

so the test I did the other day (key in back accy position pumps still running) should have been enough to say the switch is good???

You may want to scroll down to recalls.

The 1990's had a recall on the switch... could cause internal short!

Did you ever have your's replaced?

Recall, Ignition Switch, Short Circuit Defect info for 90 52539; Recall Summary THE IGNITION SWITCH COULD EXPERIENCE AN INTERNAL SHORT CIRCUIT. Consequence THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE OVERHEATING, SMOKE, AND POSSIBLY FIRE IN THE STEERING COLUMN AREA OF THE VEHICLE. Remedy DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH.

do you have a switch diagram, or are the switch pins labeled?

My EVTM does have a testing proceedure, but I would have to see if I can scan the diagram in for you if you do not have one.

IgnitionSwitchPinout.JPG

We want to be sure that I1 (Ignition 1 Run),

and I2 (Ignition 2 Start) positions of the ignition switch are working.

So, with it in your hand. Check for continuity between either of the battery terminals and I1, and move the switch through all of its positions. You should have continuioty ONLY in RUN.

DO the same with I2, but there you should have continuity only in START.

IF that's good, then the issue must be in the adjustment when it is installed.

Ok well all seems to be fine *right now*

I just got back from driving Beast around for a couple of hours and so far all seems good.

I did have some clicking coming from the transfer case that went away when I unlocked the hubs and the steering seems to be a bit screwy but other than that everything seems ok. Oh and the brakes are a little spongy, maybe time for the new booster and master...

I was hoping it was just air but I already bled them out a few times... When I was under the dash working on the ign switch I heard some kind of air leak coming from the rod going into the booster at the firewall...
