It seems like everyone's running Optima batteries in their Broncos.

I'm ready to buy one, is the yellow top worth the extra money over the red?

I plan to install H4 headlights, running lights, stereo, who knows what else. Maybe some day a winch

If you're going to be running a winch and things of that nature eventually, now would be a good time to consider a dual battery setup. you'll thank yourself later down the road when you drain the one battery running your winch and the truck still starts right up.

You might also want to consider getting a high output alternator. A 3G or something that will put out 160-180 amps to keep up with lights, stereo, winch, CB, etc. You can have a great battery but if the charging system isn't up to ***** then you will always be running on a half full battery because everything else is drawing off of it. On eBay they start at around $150 or so. It is a worth while investment if you plan on running all kinds of accessories.

I believe the red top has a high and fast output where the yellow top has a little lower ouput but will run longer. I do stereo comps and have the red top for the high fast output. I was told the yellow top would not do as good as the red top. But if you need for longing running for a winch then the yellow top is probably better for you!

Yes, the Yellow Top is a deep cycle. What that means, for those that don't know, is that it's designed to be drained to almost dead and recharged repeatedly without losing performance (which would happen to a regular battery). This makes it better for high-draw accessories like a winch.

Thanks guys, I went ahead and went with the yellow top, although I started to have second thoughts when I found out the red top has a 3 year warranty vs. 1 year on the yellow.
