i have a 79 bronco and im looking to rebuild the engine(351m). im making a wish list anybody have any suggestions? also looking for carb and intake combinations, and suggestions there too would be excellent. thanks guys

i personaly like the newer holly truck avenger carbs my 89 haves efi but hope to change to carb if i do thats the route i will go. a couple other tricks i can tell u that will help it run just a bit better and wont cost u more then 10 bucks. get you a can of white high temp paint and give the underside of your intake manifold about 3 good heavy coats of the white paint. white reflects heat and will help the intake stay cooler and helps the fuel burn better. and anouther thing you can do is gasket match your heads both exhaust ports and intake ports and the intake manifold as well. i used a air grinder with a good bit and taped the proper gasket the which ever piece i was workin on and just ground the excess metal that was sticking past the gasket then when i finished i ran a polishing wheel around the inside of the ports. this wont give u a extra 100 horses or nothing but i did notice a difference in the way it ran on mine. hope this helps. enjoy the journey and hope all turns out well for you

I will be going through the same scenario as you are on my '79. After looking at several options, I decided to stay with the motorcraft carb. Its only going to be used for street use anyway.(Never had a problem with it on trails either). Whatever you decide to use, just make sure you pick the correct cfm's so it can run efficently.

I have a 351M in my 78 right now. In about 3 weeks though I am doing an engine swap. I decide to buy a crate engine to make the project go quicker because I have time restraints. Anyway I decided to go with the 400 with a Holley 600 and Edelbrock Performer 400 intake. I think I will be pretty happy, I can let you know how they work togeter in a few weeks.

summit has a intake and carb set up thats a weldin intake and a holly 600 vac secondarys and evons comes with a summit air cleaner kit and if u really want the modified motor to realy run bad ass put a new cam in it u dont have to put in a dam race cam in it just a cam with out so much retardation in it cus from fac the cam a ******** 8 degreas for smog shit and a cam with just a bit more lift would really help i know it sur as **** helped my bronco and u dont evon have to pull the motor to put a cam in it

Get some zeroed timing gears and a comp cam 270H (works with factory valve springs). Performer 400 manifold and a 600cfm carb. If you want to really do it up get a 400 crank and some higher compression pistons for a 400 from Tim Meyer Inc. and turn it into a 400 cubic inch engine with the above upgrades. Bam, 300 horsepower and over 400ft/lbs of torque.
