take off the rear cover for the tail gate on the inside and check the drivers side latch switch. jump it and see if the window works by the switch again

Yah, if what you are experiencing is a failure of the motor to function, ditto on mbtech2003's suggestion. If it was a rhetorical question my first response still stands.

If it is failing, there are several things that may cause it and if the driver side latch switch doesn't fix it, let us know.

questions to answer:

1. Can you hear the motor running when either the driver switch ot tail gate switch is activated?

If Yes, then the gears are probably bad

if not, open the access panel and jumper the motor using a set of leads and battery. Reversing the leads changes direction of the motor.

If you can operate the motor this way, then you have a connection or fuse problem.
