rear spare rack

on my 78 bronco it didnt come with a spare tire rack outside and i cant find any for a 78 or 79 and i was woundering if one off a 80's or 90's bronco would fit

Nope wont fit ,,the body is shaped differently,Also If yours wasnt factorty equipped then you may not have the steel brackets that are built in behind the rear quarters that the racks bolts bolt into. With out them there is nothing to bolt the racks hinges to... :mellow:

ok thanks i think i found a guy with 1 for a 78 and i figered that i would have to suport the body and make the mounts for the hinges

hey budy, i have one available. it came off my 79. i'm in PA. near allentown/philly. let me know if your interested.

If your truck didn't originally have one then you may have to add the internal supports inside the right rear 1/4 panel and the tail gate. If it doesn't have these supports it will rip the bolts right through the skin. You will probably have to fabricate one for the 1/4 panel but the one for the tail gate can be found from an old gate.

I found a company online somewhere that made special bumper/tire racks for your year bronco. The racks swing out, but are connected some how to the bumper. Also had the option of a basket on the side for extra external storage. Pretty neat setup, and fairly cheap from what I remember (though everyones def. of "cheap" is different lol)

Hey how much are you asking for the tailgate? I have a 78 bronco and I need a tailgate. Im located about an hour and a half away from you, so I will try to call you tomorrow about it.
