Putting into gear

Hey everyone: Need some help The other day while going to work I pulled out of the driveway and went to put it in drive and she just sat there like in nutural I put it back into park and pulled the shifter lever toward me and then down to drive and it went into gear ever since I have to do the same pull the shifter in and into gear does this sound like a major tranny problem or can i make some type of adjustments to the linkage? OH Yea! its a 95 XLT 302 5.0 w auto tranny any ideas would be helpful Thanks l

Sounds like a linkage problem. If it's shifting fine and you have no other problems I'd be almost sure it's just a misaligned linkage. Could be fouled at either end (tranny or column) but I'd start at the tranny since that's the easier end to examine. Good chance you just lost a snap ring or somethinglike that. The linkage is pretty simple as I recall.
