Thinking about putting in power steering into my 1970 Bronco (302). Does anyone know what if any power steering box will fit easily out of a newer Bronco or other vehice?

The easiest PS swap is the Bronco swap. Use a 74-76. Bolts directly in. You might have to modify the inner fender & core support because the newer system has a rag joint in the middle of the steering shaft & will hit the fender & the PS box is a little bit longer than the stock manual box. You can also do the 4x4x2 box, a Toyota, or Scout swaps. But I am not overly familiar with any of them. The EB PS swap is literally an unbolt/rebolt application. It uses the same bolt holes, the same height both topside & hanging down. The problem you definitely will run into with it is they are getting harder and harder to come by and usually run in the $500-$1000 price range depending on the condition. The next easiest one might be the 4x4x2 set up. You combine the guts from a 4x2 box & a casing from a 78-79 Bronco or 76-79 F-150. Good article to read about it here for a DIY job.

I've got an extra p/s box I'd sell. Pretty sure it is off of a 77 but I'll have to check. It would prolly need to be resealed though. I've also got a factory p/s pump as well I beleive. Shoot me a pm if interested.

There might be a little difference in the 77 PS set up, I don't remember exactly what. But the 74-76 is the "ideal" setup for anything older because it is literally a direct bolt in. That being said, its not a bad idea right there from broncorkcrwlr. If you need to have it rebuilt, get in touch with the folks from West Texas Offroad. Google that or Redneck Ram and you will find them. They are great at turning the thing around in less than 2 weeks from your door, back to ya.

Thanks for the info
Toyota ifs boxes go under anything, I have run the same one for 6 years

BBB

Do run a good sized cooler though for all power steering boxes, I took mine out for a trip and I knew it was hot gat it a good spit and it evaperated before IO could count one mississippi haha The only reason I say yota is you can get them for 50 bucks and summit has steering shaft adapters for 30-50 bucks so 150 plus pitman arm from sky manufacturing 300 total what does a good ford box cost 500 my two cents
