I think I may have a stuck heat riser valve its on an 84 with a straight 6, my question is, is it possible to access the valve without removing the entire intake and exhaust manifolds? or do you have rip it all off? Any help would be great

Why do you think your heat riser is stuck? What is the symptom? Do you have a mechanical or vacuum operated heat riser?I think I may have a stuck heat riser valve its on an 84 with a straight 6, my question is, is it possible to access the valve without removing the entire intake and exhaust manifolds? or do you have rip it all off? A heat risers function is simpy to allow pre heated air from the exhaust manifold to flow into the air intake during cold start and warm up.If you are experiencing a noticeable power loss, it is most likely NOT the heat riser.
I would suspect the catalytic convertor from your brief description.
But, that said, when was the last time you did a full tune-up including a new fuel filter?
