i dont know for sure with the bronco but typically the police intercepter package cars have heavy duty suspension, upgraded charging systems to deal with equipment. some vehicles get different diff ratio and heavy duty swap bars. I think on the newer police interceptors the engines are the same but they get a different fuel/timing map.

Ive seen bronco rescue vehicles like paramedics, fire dept etc, but i dont know that ive seen an interceptor package.

Many Interceptor engines were overhead cam (many are supercharged) v-8 5.0L or 4.6L engines (older ones even were 5.8L 4bbl). Many marine inboard engines are built like police interceptor engines. Most have special oil coolers that are in with the radiator like the transmission heat exchangers. I have never seen a Bronco equipped with a cop car engine, even in the fire department/rescue fleet.

A few years ago I saw a 1994 Crown Victoria Interceptor x-cop car for sale for $2000 and at that time I wanted it's engine for my '92 Bronco, but after investigating and speaking with a certified Ford Mechanic I was discouraged to find it would be a costly swap.

My wife has an old sherrifs car. It's not a Bronco but it's a police crown vic. The only difference in the engine from a "regular" crown vic is the cooling system and dual exhaust with an H pipe. Other than that it's got the heavy duty rear end and suspension. So I doubt there's much more difference any ways. Just my $.02...

I know my Bronco is an old Police Package, I had to replace the motor a few years ago and I asked if it was an interceptor or regular and I was told they didn't put them in Broncos :???:

I may be wrong but arnt interceptors used on the highway? If thought they were so they could keep with say a Corvette or some hot Mustang or Trans Am, Bronco doesnt really sound like somethin that would be to good for that.

The Interceptor is part of the Crown Vic Police package. All (or at least most all) Ford Crown Vic police cars have it.

I have seen Crown Vic Interceptors and have seen Bronco Civil Service vehicles, but have never personally seen a Bronco Interceptor. If you get lucky enough to find one of those unicorns, it might be interesting to see. As for compatibility, there might be an issue because I know Interceptor packages include the afore mentioned in-radiator oil cooler, super-charger or turbo kits, special power curve programs in the ECU and exhaust and drivetrain mods. Good Luck though!

i had a 1980 model that was a retired ky state police truck. it was all factory(no special police package), except for a spot light and mounts in the grill and dash for lights, it was pretty normal, 302 and all. i also had a 78 that came from cal and was a rescue bronco for hot air ballon races. it was normal except for the lime green paint and orange, white and yellow stripes! believe it or not, it was sharp.

I have noticed that a few people have reffered to the interceptor as being supercharged or turbo'ed. Im calling B.S. on that!!! I have done a little bit of research and nowhere did I find a patrol car that was forced induction. I even went to the ford website and built an interceptor and not one option was for a charger or turbo.

all the new interceptors are anymore is just a change in the intake, they take the standard intake system, rip it out, put a mass air intake in and a "box" if you will. it holds more air, therefore, more airflow is acquired. Also, the cooling system is a little more intense, heavy duty transmission, and rear. I aint ever seen a bronco with a package like that, even on border patrol vehicles, ambulances, and marsh fire response broncos. there is although, an ambulance package that ford offers for the broncos and F-Series.

The Beast has some suspension stuff that makes her handle like a "sports car", HD Alt. and a couple other things.
