Peformace parts?

Hey guys I was just courious. I have a 92 Ford Bronco XLT and i have been wanting to add some performace parts to make it run a little better. I was wondering how well they actually help my bronco.

I want to put on a K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit Gen2 here are some specs to it

Specifications:

Product Style: 57 Series FIPK

Estimated Horsepower Gain: 9.33 HP @ 3696 RPM

Type: Gen II

How well will this help my gas milage as well as power wise. and what else could i add to help my gas milage and power.

Would greatly appreciate the help here

A lot of the advertising is a little over stated and designed to get your money. Since you have a computer run engine, there are a limited number of things you can do without having it reprogrammed and not everything gives you better milage. Mainly you gain horsepower and milage at the same time by doing things that reduce the load on the engine. For example, removing the mechanical fan and installing an electric fan, putting your 5000 lb baby in a diet, fiberglass panels in place of metal like the hood, tailgate, fenders, etc. One of the best is keping your right foot a little further from the floor and using cruise controlo when ever possible to reduce erratic fuel control. Everything comes at a price so you need to weigh the cost against payback time and how much you save from making a change.

USUALLY you sacrifice mileage for power and vice versa, so keep that in mind too.

1st.,

Do a "complete" tune-up... to factory specs, ....then (+)(-) for todays fuels.

2nd.,

Buy yourself a 12 pk & your wife some flowers.....with that

"porformance $$" & you'll be waaaay ahead of the game.

How 'bout this....how often do you run around @ 4,000 RPM...??

Those figures are done on a "no-load" dyno.....not on real world roads.

Any "noticable" gain would be due to the accurate tune-up beforehand.

Actually, the K&N FIPK was one of the first mods that I did to my truck...right after a good general tune-up. I installed the K&N kit in conjunction with an MSD ignition, and so far those two mods together have given me the best bang for the buck. Bar none!

Stan - That is an impressive set of upgrades so I value your first hand opinion. I have a 92 Bronco that is my current project. My first upgrade is pacesetter shorties and pacesetter catback dual performance exhaust. On your advise, next will be the air intake. Afterwards I was thinking electric fan then rear lockers. Please give me your opinion of the best bang for the bucks after that. The truck has new engine, transmission and transfer case. It is not used for everyday travel, more of a fun car.
