Painting Chrome Parts

I want to "black out" all of the chrome on my 76. I wanted to know if it is possible to paint over chrome and polished aluminum and if so what type of preperation of the surface is needed.

Yes you can paint over chrome but you will definatly have to scuff the surface so the paint has something to hold on to, otherwise your paint will peel back off in a week or the first time you hit it with a pressure washer.
