wondering if any of you experts can help me out. i almost had the same problem as a person on this website but more complicated. I'm fixing up a bronco 2 that I bought, pulled the body off, took all wiring doors, everything in the engine compartment, sandblasted everything, painted everything mutilpul coats of por 15. Almost at the end of the mechanical road except for this problem. All the necessary wiring is placed back to original place, wiring to all engine components. I know that i heard a crack when placing the clutch pedal unit in but i figured it was nothing. when i went to check if my truck could crank over, it was but with clutch pedal not depressed. so knowing that a broken switch is jumping power. I thought i needed a new clutch switch figuring I broke the last one. Now since i replaced it I'm getting nothing from the solenoid. ???? that is where i need you guys to come in. please the more help the better, i really want to be driving this thing for the summer

I am guessing that when your clutch pedal is up the switch is open, and when the pedal is depressed, the switch is closed. Perhaps you got a bad switch.

Is there an adjustment for the switch, to be sure that it closes the circuit when the pedal is depressed?

with the old clutch switch i did not have to depress the clutch pedal. With the new clutch switch I'm not getting anything. Doesn't matter if the clutch pedals in or not, nothing is happening. which i think only points to electrical.

No doubt it is electrical, do you have a volt meter, and know how to use it?

You will have to do a little trouble shooting and that is the tool to use.

That clutch switch is a safety switch, it ensures that the driver can not start the vehicle while it is in gear, and can run over a child. If your old switch would allow that, it was broken.

I believe that it serves the same funtion as the neutral safety switch on an automatic.

I'll search through past posts I was involved in to see if I can find a thread that discussed the neutral safety switch and its relation to the starting circuit. THat includes the solinoid and starter itself.

You may find this thread helpful.

again consider the clutch switch and the neutral switch essentially the same.

Yep... you need to get yourself a newer truck ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thursday I spent a couple of hours trying to remove a loose bolt that holds my seat in place. I dulled two sawzall blades only to get half way through it, finally I put a torch to that bit*h!

Three minute jobs become three hour jobs.

Oh well... have fun locating that specialty tool.

Once you get it.. I'll bet that you will be the only kid on the block to have one :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Glad you found the problem.
