Guys, I really need some help here. I bought a 92 XLT back in Feb for 5k that had a "rebuilt" engine with less than 25k miles on it. Since then, I have had over 5k worth of work done 1400 at a time. Each time i got it out of the shop, within a day it would be dead from another problem.

The first big job was the head gasket work. $1300

Got it back, within a day, it was stalling out. Took it back, they thought it was plugs and wires. Replaced those, realized that it was actually a work cam shaft and valve lifter issue. Completely rebuilt that, and I got it out of the shop this morning.

Test driving it on the highway immediately afterward, It stalled out, lost power and died. I noticed the oil pressure gauge would zero out each time I stopped at red lights on the way to the highway, and the"check engine" light was on right before i got on the road.

I drove it back, and they think said there is no oil pressure and they have to replace the pump and possibily the rods and bearings now, another $700!!!!!!!

I got this truck 4 months ago and have only driven it 3 times and spent almost 6k in repairs. Am I getting screwed thru a misdiagnosis? My uncle runs a mechanic shop and has owned many bronco's and said this stuff isnt their fault, but at this point I am thinking they should have identified these things all at once, and the subsequent issues are from poor workmanship. either way, I am sad to say I have to sell this beast because i cant afford to make more repairs. This breaks my F'in heart. Below is a list of all the work I have had done, and it is in the shop this morning. I am afriad they are going to call me again and tell me its a worse problem, or they are going to give it back, and its going to break down again. I am totally bummed, any advice from someone would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the basic Specs:

1992 Dark Blue XLT with removable Cab/top.

6-inch lift with running bars, 33.5-inch mud tires

5.8 Liter V8 Engine (351)

CA approved, Hedman Hedders

Power locks, windows

Power steering w/ overdrive

AC

Additional work done since March 07:

not saying this is your problem..but cam bearings can play a major roll in loss of oil pressure especially if they are stock...have someone look into it if the oil pump doesnt solve the problem
