Well, new guy here to the board. I just picked up an 1989 Bronco with the 302. I am new to pretty new to trucks since I have owned basically all cars besides a 84 Ford Conversion Van. I currently own a Dodge Neon SRT-4 which is my speed deamon and I have been Eye Balling FS Broncos since I was in HS and FINALLY found one that is in good shape. I am military and actually on deployment when I came across this 89 bronco on craigslist. The owner claimed it only has 35k miles on it and I sent a buddy to look at it. He isn't a mechanic by any means and I knew its 20 years old so basically I told him if the body is solid (which he knows what to look for) and it starts, shifts, doesn't overheat take it for me. He took it for a ride and said it runs STRONG, SHIFTS GREAT but the steering is sloppy. Not a big deal to me, I can work on cars myself easily and have access to any tool I need if I dont have it.
The truck does not have the top or the back seat. The interior was rhino lined, hubs just replaced, new radiator, body lift. Dont care for the paint job that much but there is always MAACO for a $200 paint job!
lol. I just have a few questions:
When replacing front rotors, do you have to press the hub off/on?
Does anyone have a PDF service manual on this truck?
About how long is the job to replace all tie rods/ball joints?
Is there anyone that makes a canvas cover that comes off the roof down to the rails? low profile, not a soft top?
This is NEVER going to be a show truck. This is something I want to have fun in and run to the store and pick stuff up when I need it. The paint job is NOT what I would want but I like it actually. Character....... The GF and my buddy says it fits me. Here are some pics..
