I cant seem to figure out why im not getting any heat. The temp gauge doesn't seem to get any warmer than about 190-200 now it is pretty cold up here in Chicago but when i turn the heat on all im getting is cold air the flaps seem to be switching over to heat but its not getting warm. I don't know if its the heater core or something in the lines going to it im in need of some help yet again.

Generally when your heater fan is blowing, and your confident that the flap in the heater box is functioning properly, ie: the wire is still connected to the lever, then its a safe bet the heater core needs replacement. They arent very expensive, like 50 bux. Maybe tough to get at but easy enough. May also want to check your coolant level too. My 84 pickup had no heat, I assumed heater core, when I went to drain the coolant when I changed the timing chain i noticed my coolant level was low. When I reassembled everything, I paid close attention to getting all the air out of the system and I had heat. Had an air lock I guess.

i had this same situation in a 64 buick riviera i built as a teenager. My local mechanic showed me where comman air locks build up in the system. Quick and easy fix. I would check that and the wire connection before trying to deal with the heater core

Since you have between 190-200 degrees. I would firts check the coolant, then the wires(if the motor is running--your getting power) the switch---that controls from cool to warmer---sometimes we get in a hurry and mad,and forget to push the lever over to warm(its happened to alot of us) if it is on all the way-check to see if it is working the valve to open the warm water flow.. You can check the heater core -if it has hot water travel---buy feeling both hoses going into and coming out of your heater core.If it does--warm hoses or hot hose will be present on BOTH SIDES. If you don,t,you can back flush (reverse the hoses) and work some dirt loose to where it will put out heat----.From what I hear you have---I would check the valve (between the water line going into the heater core. When you move the lever inside the cab to open all the way----alos look under the hood and see the position. Then move the lever all the way to the opposite and -----look back under the hood to see if it changed. IF it has not changed---check your cable on the lever. Sometines they will come off---if it has and you still don,t have heat--check the valve . Sometimes the cable will come off it. The valev will go bad sometimes. They are not hard to change or expensive. The lever cable also couls be broke. I would lay money on the valve --its not opening---you can unhook the cable and open it manually.. Good luck
