I have a 1984 Bronco II. It is no longer starting and is making a rather loud and harsh grinding noise everytime I try to start it, it doesnt even try to turn over. I located the part that is the source of the noise, and it looks like its a pretty straight foward switch out. I admit, when it comes to cars I'm lost beyond changing the oil and replacing a fan belt, so maybe you all can help me out. I'm trying to figure out the name of the part I need, it looks like a large tin can (about 8 in long) that only has connections on one side, and its located directly behind the battery. I figured it was the starter solenoid, but every place I've looked for one looks nothing like the one in my truck. any ideas?
